Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service showcase their road safety initiatives at our annual SAFE event
Over the past two days Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service have been in College showcasing the exciting road safety initiatives that they have developed, aimed specifically at young drivers. This event informed students about the many dangers they may face during their late adolescent years and how to avoid becoming a victim.
The Fire Service was joined by other agencies including Leicestershire Police, Turning Point (drug and alcohol awareness and counselling), Leicester and Rutland Blood Bike, Cycle Hub and Safety Camera Team offering a range of activities for the students to participate in.
Students were able to try out the VF4 360 virtual reality experience, enter the Mario Kart beer goggle competition, view the Fire Bike and witnessed a live road traffic collision extrication demonstration.
Young people are the most likely group of drivers to be involved in fatal road traffic collision and Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service aims to reduce the number and the serious of road traffic collisions by going into schools and colleges delivering initiatives that will encourage young drivers to be safer on the roads.
