A-Level results day marked the end of the first successful cohort of BTEC Business Extended Diploma students’ journey, as the group look towards promising futures after being presented with their grades today.

The students lead the way in being the very first group to study the new course and have set the bar at an incredibly high level; a number of those receiving their grades were offered their first choice universities and will move onto Higher Education in the coming months.

One of those bright young minds included Malisa Stafford who after achieving D*DD, the joint highest grade on the course, will move to Nottingham to study Fashion Management at Nottingham Trent University.

Upon opening her results she was quick to praise the support network around her at Stephenson College as she begins to make plans for an exciting future, she said: “I found the BTEC Business course at Stephenson College challenging at times, but in a good way! I was always pushed to work to the very best of my ability; the tutors have been absolutely fantastic.

“When I first began my course I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do, but over time I feel that so many doors have opened for me as a result of studying here.

“I’ve always had a creative mind and that coupled with everything I’ve learned over the last two years has made me realise what I want to do, I’m hoping to one day work as a Retail Buyer.

“I’d urge anyone thinking about studying a BTEC Business course at Stephenson College to give it a go! The wealth of knowledge you can rely upon from your tutors and careers advisors make it all so worthwhile!”

Lilique Hawkey, another stand-out student is set to join Loughborough University studying a Business Management degree as she looks to carve out a successful future in sales.

“I’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of support given to me by the tutors at Stephenson College, they’ve supported me step-by-step and have really helped in getting me to where I am today.

“The best part of my business course has been the work placement projects we’ve been sent on as a group, I’ve had the opportunity to go into big businesses and work on exciting projects and learn from the very best.

“I’m so excited to get underway! I just want to say to anyone who is studying a business course, or any course at Stephenson for that matter, don’t be scared to ask for help! Everyone who works at the college is here to help! If you don’t manage something the first time, you’ll always be given support and the opportunity to succeed!

“I really did enjoy my course and I would recommend it to anyone thinking of pursuing a career in business”. For those picking up their GCSE results on the 23rd August, Stephenson College will be holding back-to-back open days on Thursday August 23rd (9am - 6pm) and the following day, Friday August 24th (9am - 4pm).

There will be the opportunity to sit down and talk with our course tutors, take a tour of our fantastic campus and get a feel for what we have to offer here at Stephenson. Regardless of whether you're looking to start your journey post-16 or if you're an adult learner looking to re-train, all are welcome.
