Principal and Chief Executive of the SMB Group, Dawn Whitemore, is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Gedge as Deputy Principal, as of 1st February, 2021.

As part of his new role, Mr Gedge will also be responsible for the Group’s Curriculum, Quality and Student Experience provision.

Andrew Gedge leaves his role as Assistant Principal, Quality and Students, at the College of West Anglia (CWA), where he was part of the organisation for over 20 years.

As the SMB Group marks the anniversary of its formation through the merger of Brooksby Melton College and Stephenson College, it’s an exciting time of growth across all three campuses – Brooksby and Melton, based in Melton Mowbray, and Stephenson, based in Coalville – and it is expected that this significant hiring will help the College continue towards their ambitions of achieving an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted.

“I am delighted to be joining a College Group with a national reputation for its vocational provision and apprenticeships.” said Mr Gedge. “I wholly support the SMB Group’s vision and aim to build on this to provide the best possible offer for our students.”

“This is a critical time for all education providers to help the national pandemic economic recovery, particularly those Further and Higher Education institutions, to ensure that they are responsive to the skills needs of our communities and local businesses through.”

The SMB Group are looking forward to working alongside their new Deputy Principal to continue providing excellent learning experiences and outcomes for all students at the Brooksby, Melton and Stephenson Campuses.
