The Leicestershire Construction Skills Hub is offering a free three-week entry programme into the sector!

The Programme

Applicants will first need to register their interest and, if successful, will attend:

  • Week 1 – Employability training consisting of CV development, interview preparation/technique and confidence building.
  • Week 2 – Construction related training, including individuals completing the CSCS Touch Screen Test to gain a CSCS Green Card which is essential to work on site. This week will include training on:
    • Health & Safety
    • Handheld Power Tools
    • PPE
    • Asbestos Awareness
    • Manual Handling
    • Working at Height
    • Abrasive Wheels
    • COSHH
  • Week 3 – individuals who successfully complete Week 1 and 2 will be offered work experience of up to one week on a construction site with an employer working with the Construction Skills Hub and looking to recruit site-ready applicants.

 

What’s in it for individuals?

A pathway into the construction sector by gaining the skills and knowledge needed by employers recruiting locally right now, such as Morris Homes and Kier Living. After five to ten years, skilled construction workers can expect to be earning:

  • Bricklayer – £40,000+
  • Carpenter – £45,000+
  • Plasterer – £35,000+
  • Estimator – £40,000+
  • Plant Operator – £35,000+
  • Quantity Surveyor – £65,000+
  • Self-employed Contractor – £50,000+
  • Construction Manager – £60,000+
