This programme is designed to meet the needs of people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities supported by an Education Health and Care Plan. The range of difficulties may include students with learning difficulties, communication and emotional difficulties, physical difficulties, autism and ADHD. This study programme will offer you the opportunity to work alongside real employees within a work placement that has been individually sourced for you. In addition, you will study units of work designed to give insight into what it takes to be a successful employee. The work placement will be tailored to your needs, and you will be supported all the way by a team of staff at the college including job coaches, and learning support assistants. In addition to your work placement, you will study alongside students from the Pathways to Employment course covering units of work such as: understanding your pay and conditions, the role of unions in the workplace and effective communication in the workplace.
This programme is designed to meet the needs of people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities who have been (or are currently being) supported by an Education Health and Care Plan, or a support plan within their current provision. The range of difficulties may include students with learning difficulties, communication and emotional difficulties, physical difficulties, mental health difficulties, autism and ADHD. This study programme will offer you the opportunity to improve your Maths and English Skills. In year 1 the focus will be around Independent living Skills, and in year 2 the focus will be on Employability Skills, designed to get students work ready. Units of work will include independent travel training, personal finance, allotment work, communication skills and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In addition, the second year of this course will include an individually sources work placement (1 day a week) which will give you the vital experience of the world of work.

The range of difficulties may include learners with mild to moderate learning difficulties but with reasonable social skills and those who may find it difficult to cope with some social situations.

HITZ is Premiership Rugbys award-winning education and employability programme which works with more than 2,000 young people across England every year. The programme uses rugbys core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship to get young people back in education, employment or training.
