A Supported Internship is a fantastic opportunity for a student with additional needs to gain employment skills. This includes undertaking a work placement alongside employees, whilst supported by a Job Coach. The Internship will last for a maximum of six months for one or two days a week. Alongside the work placement, the interns will be studying an employability qualification and English and Maths at an appropriate level.
This programme offers vocational tasters in the following sectors: brickwork, childcare, carpentry, hair and beauty, animal care, office skills, painting and decorating, media, sport, engineering and motor vehicle, as well as life skills and work experience.
This programme has been designed to meet the needs of people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. The range of difficulties may include learners with mild to moderate learning difficulties but with reasonable social skills and those who may find it difficult to cope with some social situations.
