This week we held our first annual Futures Week enabling young people to access information about future study and training opportunities by interacting with a diverse range of guests.
Throughout the week students have received inspiring career talks, activities and presentations, as part of their vocational lessons, from a number of companies including Network Rail, Galliford Try, 4 Way Consulting, Hanson Concrete, Meggitt and Pallex.
On Tuesday we held our Further Education and Apprenticeships Fair with ourselves and other local colleges providing advice on further education and apprenticeships. Students from local schools joined Stephenson college students and pupils from Stephenson Studio School at the fair and enjoyed speaking to representatives from the army and navy as well as local colleges, including Loughborough, Leicester, Burton and Derby, along with our friendly and knowledgeable course tutors.
This morning our Level 3 Business students organised and ran a Business Networking Brunch for local businesses to enable the students to learn more about business and to show those that attend what they do at the college. Fourteen local businesses attended and enjoyed a complimentary brunch whilst chatting to the students.
This afternoon we held our Higher Education Fair with a selection of universities including Coventry, De Montfort, Derby, Leicester, Bishop Grossteste, Leeds Beckett, Northampton and University of Nottingham along with representatives from our Higher Education department.
Futures Week is just one part of our whole college Careers Education Programme for the academic year to help students with their education and employment progression.
We would like to thank all of our visitors and guests speakers for making this week a valuable experience for our students.
