At Stephenson College we are very proud of the excellent reputation we enjoy for providing quality training and professional support to the business community across the United Kingdom.

Our Higher Apprenticeships

The College currently works with hundreds of nationally and internationally recognised companies and organisations across many industry sectors to offer Higher Apprenticeships at Stephenson College.

Our partners include: Volvo Trucks UK, Renault Trucks UK, BAM Nuttall, Aggregate Industries, Vinci Construction UK, Sanctury Housing, Petit Forestier, Ryder, Pullman Fleet Services and many more.

Our Higher and Degree Apprenticeships are a great alternative to university, offering qualifications up to degree level, no tuition fees and the opportunity to earn while you learn. Higher and degree apprentices typically split their time between college and the workplace whether that be local to Stephenson College, or elsewhere. As with other apprenticeships they are employed throughout and the cost of the fees are shared between government and their employer.

Stephenson College offers National Higher Apprenticeship Programmes in: Construction and the Built Environment and Civil Engineering and Level 2/3 advanced apprenticeship in HGV Motor Vehicle maintenance.

Attendance

Attendance at Stephenson College will be on a block release basis. Apprentices will be required to attend Stephenson College on a 2 week block every 6 weeks. Accommodation and travel cost can be covered by the company. Apprentices stay at the college Monday to Thursday, returning home for the weekends.

Welfare

Welfare of apprentices is of primary importance to Stephenson College and we have fully vetted all student accommodation in line with our strict Safeguarding policy. Stephenson College has a team of friendly and approachable student advisors and a counsellor available to speak confidentially to students. We also have an Apprentice Liaison Co-ordinator, who is responsible for the retention and welfare of the apprentices on our apprenticeship programmes.

Accommodation

Apprentices will stay with local families (landlady accommodation provided by Stephenson College on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis only). All accommodation has been carefully vetted and any relevant DBS checks have been done by the college. All landladies are used to having apprentices stay. Alternative accomodation (Hotels/Self Catering Flats/Halls of Residence) can be arranged.
